Moling Service
At AAU Ltd, we take pride in embracing new and effective ways of improving water utilities across the United Kingdom. One of the things that we have adopted in our solutions is trenchless pipe installation methods and more specifically moling, in efforts to minimise disruption as well as enhancing efficiency.
Insight into Moling: A Trenchless Wonder
Moling emerges as a novel set of processes that transform the traditional ways of pipe installation. Modus operandi always required conventional trenching that entails digging and excavations. In contrast, moling process uses piercing devices running on pneumatics for boring work underground. This method not only promotes fast and efficient installation but also minimises high level environmental impact this kind of a project is associated with.
An Unmasked Process of Moling
Our process is triggered by the strategic excavations of pits at both the origin and terminus areas, which would be followed by the pipe routing. These two would be used as inlets and outlets for the pneumatic mole, a powerful device formulated for soil displacement and creation of a clearance.
For this reason, the pneumatic mole operates horizontally beneath the surface of the Earth and because it works through displacement, there are no grounds that are destroyed on top. Thus landscapes and buildings are not tampered with after a successful installation.
Every Step Of The Process At A Glance
The main difference between moling and traditional trenching methods where digging may have to be continuous is that rather than the whole area being ripped up, holes are dug in pinpoint places, mostly every 20m or more and only where deemed necessary. This allows passage through or along an obstruction with minimal overall disturbance to the surroundings whilst at the same time acting as a conduit for a new water pipe from the main supply into and through to houses.
Trenchless Pipe Installation Benefits
Less Disruption: The process does not involve any existing infrastructure removal or extensive excavation, therefore it creates minimum disruption to roads, landscapes, and existing infrastructures.
Environment-Friendly: Large-scale digging is not involved in this method, as a result of which the adverse impact on the environment and disturbance in local ecosystems are reduced.
Saves Time: Mole installations are quicker than traditional trenching, as the method is faster and less invasive.
Saves Money: Moling saves on associated costly labour and reduces expensive restoration making it a cost-effective option for water utilities to consider.
